Year of the Snake

This piece explores the idea of transformation through the symbolism of the snake. Inspired by themes of shedding, identity shifts, and liminal states, the artwork represents the moment between letting go of an old version of the self and the emergence of something new.

Rather than depicting transformation as a triumphant rebirth, I focused on the in-between, the raw, vulnerable state where change has already begun, but resolution has not yet arrived. The figure reflects this transitional phase: exposed, yet conscious; fragile, yet holding the agency to move forward.

Visually, I aimed to combine dark, atmospheric fantasy elements with symbolic storytelling. Light and flame act as subtle metaphors for inner life and creative force, contrasting with the organic presence of the snake.
